R.Missing presents Placeholder in the Night

R.Missing, one of the New York musical groups, is as intriguing as it is elusive. Formed by vocalist Sharon Shy and keyboardist Toppy, they manage to present themselves publicly in an enigmatic way, sometimes sparing in words, as if what is relevant was not there, in the statement, but somewhere else. “Without art or artists,” they have declared on occasion. They are not, nor do they pretend to be, the band of the year, nor to be at the top of the list. top They are not interested in sensationalist statements and they do not have any opinion that could be more relevant than that of the average citizen. They only want their ethereal sound to penetrate each and every one of your pores, predicting a disturbing future, with no return ticket, towards which we are heading without brakes, and which is better appeased with music than with spectacle.

They have recently published the EP Placeholder in the Night, which represents the consolidation of a career that began with the reminiscent Unsummering, which is an inner journey, full of nostalgia and technical virtuosity, which can sometimes remind us of bands like Underwaters or Glass Candy. Their latest album: Placeholder in the Night, presented in EP format, is a romantic ode to all the good things that end up disappearing. Each track avoids false promises of liberation. Its sound and lyrics seem to try to contain our desires, preventing them from eating away at us from the inside out.

However, we had the pleasure of interviewing them, and this was the result.

Hi Sharon, where can we find you right now? How did you start your day?

A grey room in a suburban district of New York…

I don't usually start my days because I have 24-hour mornings.

How did you get into music?

In the end, it was just a few points of light on the East Coast that never came online.

We may have liked a couple of songs once, but we don't remember them and we're not sure it will happen again.

Who have been your main inspirations (both musically and in 'life')? And how have they affected your sound?

To the first question: the distance..

And the second: Four or three phrases from 'The Tunnel' by Ernesto Sabato…

Which most likely will have no effect on the sound.

How would you define your sound?

Afternoons with many grades explanatory.

How would you define your work? What is the concept and story behind Placeholder for the Night? What did you want to convey?

It was an updated version of a Faraday light experiment, although we are not qualified to perform it.

And because the night is never dark or light enough.

What has led you to emphasize multiple genres on this album? What attracts you to each of your genres?

We are not attracted to descriptions or genres, they simply orbit around our sound.

What are you looking for with your latest release?

Optimization.

What other projects are you working on right now?

In simplicity and severity.

Do you have any final words of wisdom?

We never had any.
