The Sense of Music

Ulises Arrieta and Javier Martínez present Mecanikal at Espacio Cielo

It's been a tough start to the year, but many producers are knowing how to stand out thanks to their unique music by reinventing themselves and proposing new formulas. An exemplary case is that of Ulises Arrieta, a young DJ / electronic music producer from Mexico, from the city of Oaxaca de Juárez. His musical project, worked with a powerful bassline, guitars and tropical rhythms, mixing styles such as Indie Dance and Dark Disco, House, Disk, Techno, Afro House either Shamanic, is also a clear testimony to the consolidation of its sound.

After passing through emblematic labels, it now lands in Sky Space with «Mecanikal», together with Javier Martínez. The album, conceived as an encounter, but also as a journey, is full of dark and hypnotic sounds and counterpointed with rhythms overwhelming. And it is that, in the face of a musical panorama that tends towards uniformity, this album is presented as a collection of songs, not of Dj tools, but of tracks, like the accompanying remixes by Álvaro Cabana, Julián Sanza, ID_UA and Alex Aguayo, which work just as well at home as in a club. Tracks that take us beyond the known, embracing mystery, a darkness yet to be discovered.

The result of this “Mecanikal” is very personal, and manages to trigger a feeling that is sometimes disconcerting, familiar and welcoming at the same time, marking the end of a stage and the beginning for a label, which has never ceased to surprise us and to bet on artists capable of questioning, like few others, the established. A delight only suitable for music lovers.
