Interview with Twelve Inch
Twelve Inch is a collective founded in 2013 by Silvia and Liños in A Coruña. Following this birth, Archaic, the 12inch podcasts, emerged in 2014 and the first mix was published in May of that same year.
“An idea, a dream, a project that represents a vindication and visibility of the vinyl format as a method of expression in the booth”
In the beginning, Silvia and Liños had the idea of forming a collective and holding events in the city. Over time they grew, mutating with parallel projects such as podcasts. Archaic which in turn gave rise to the vinyl label Archaic Print.
We talked with Liños who shows us his vision of the panorama and how the project Twelve Inch both in Spain and abroad.
What types of electronics does the brand distribute?
Although the cornerstone of the project is the TechnoWe do not close ourselves to other styles that we consider to be of quality: Electro, House, Ambient, IDM, EBM, Industrial, Synthwave, Experimental, Trip-Hop….To name a few that are available in the mix series.
And artists who represent these genres: The Zenobit3, Colin Dale, Infamous Monster, Death Whistle, Synths Versus Me, Arcanoid, Die Black Garde, The Transhumans, La Cochina Electrónica….to name a small part.
What is the scope? Twelve InchThat is, where do people usually listen to you in Spain? And outside the country?
Currently, we believe that the Archaic Podcasts They are having a great time and have received great recognition, as well as very good feedback, both throughout Spain and abroad.
“These 8 years of our existence have given us a lot, and being able to give voice to artists of great recognition as well as others who are not yet as well-known, makes it a truly special project… Let the music do the talking!”
Abroad, we are listened to by a huge number of countries. Sometimes we are surprised that we reach so many places from A Coruña: Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, Ukraine, Colombia, Holland, Poland, Japan... these 10 countries are where we are listened to the most outside of here and the list goes on to 50.
Have you had the chance to host sessions with international artists? If so, could you please provide some names and links to their sessions?
It is essential to support and value local artists, but there are also international artists that we think are interesting and that should be at Archaic. More than 150 artists from outside have collaborated on the project, for example: Zadig, Deeon, Intergalactic Gary, Umwelt and Dylan Drazen
What can you tell us about Project Inopia?
Inopia Project is the stage name of my partner Silvia Teijeiro, co-founder of the collective, podcast and label (Archaic Print). She is a 21st century Renaissance artist, multidisciplinary. She enjoys poetry, music and the mystical arts and, in principle, her role as a DJ, as it was another project in her life that has been consolidated over time. Many people believe that it is a musical project of ours, but as I told you, it is her artistic name, along with Apostate which is a recently created AKA with which he wants to sign his musical productions from now on.
Where do you usually organise events? Have you collaborated with other groups?
Yes! We believe it is important to show our musical concerns, inviting artists and collaborating with other groups. Our beginnings were in raves and then there were several residencies in venues, such as Filomatic or Malavida. We are currently collaborating on Vinyl Night with the young collective Lab Movement in the Cazuza room from A Coruña.
Which of the events held to date would you highlight and why?
They all really have something special and are pampered with love. But perhaps the 2019 introduction of the label Archaic Print, as we were surprised by the number of people who attended and that they were really dedicated to the LeClub Room.
The poster was: Hector MAD, Dan Bohler, Sonia Vega, Inopia Project, Monra and myselfYou could say it was a good meeting of friends.
Regarding the Archaic Print label, when was it created? Of all the vinyls released to date, which one would you choose and why?
The label was created in mid-2019, but the idea was already in our heads in 2018 since, as authentic vinyl lovers and activists of the format, creating our own label would be the ultimate expression of the project. The idea came about after all the repercussion that the podcast series was having and we said… This is the moment!
Each reference is made with love and is special, I couldn't choose just one... It also has a very careful artistic design. Our trusted graphic designer Tecklics knows very well how to express our ideas and gives us very good advice, he is a great professional and we are very happy with his work.
Can you give us any scoop on the label's next release?
The next release of the label is going to be very very special. We have been working hard for over a year and due to various problems it has been significantly delayed. But, without a doubt, it will be released this year.
Just to say that it will be a double, with a spectacular design and that it will be a release which has never been made in vinyl format in Galicia…. More news soon…
How do you think Twelve Inch and other related projects will impact the current scene? Do you think you will leave your mark?
We know that the group is quite well known and respected in Spain, and that the new and not so new generations support our project. It is surprising how many people we sometimes see with our merchandising items at electronic music events. I sincerely believe that we are doing a good job within our possibilities, but we must continue working, learning and growing.
What are your plans for this new season?
Keep working on our passion, keep publishing archaic Thursdays, giving artists a boost and making them happy when they ask them for a mix, and we've already done more than 500!!
Continue programming vinyl sessions whenever possible with quality events and defending the format, supporting young and veteran artists, since it is important to know where we come from.
In addition to all that, continuing to grow and learn with the label, consistency is the key!!
Thank you for echoing us and thank you all for reading us and getting to know us a little better.
Greetings and lots of music!
