The Sense of Music

Review Basilar Festival 2023

Review Basilar Festival 2023

What is music but a means of escape, a way of expressing this reality that sometimes keeps us prisoners?

The music electronicsFor those who feel it, truly understand it and know its origins, it is not just mere music... It is a form of equality, a way of vindicating the goal that there are no distinctions between people based on sex, race, disability or class.

On a dance floor we are all one. Hence the sharing and enjoying in community. An evening so intimate that it takes place in nature as it was Basilar Festival It is a complete success… It is wanting to materialize in such a beautiful location the real meaning of underground electronic music without wanting or having the need to mass-produce this musical gathering full of values and self-knowledge.

For many of the attendees this trip was much more than a Techno festival, because some found truths, others reconnected with friends and/or partners, and even many of us reconnected with the child within us.

It is a festival held in an idyllic location, a single stage surrounded by trees and nature, accompanied by sound. VOID and an immensely large and beautiful lake. It is true that since the organization of Basilar Festival Some mistakes were made which resulted in some artists not being able to perform. We must not forget that there are always people behind everything and people are perfectly imperfect. We learn from mistakes and you as a reader KNOW IT VERY WELL! By default, we humans always keep the mistake, but we must be consistent and bring out all those positive aspects that the festival provided us.

Thursday, September 7th

A large number of attendees traveled from Madrid And, of course, the first night we enjoyed a show starring Judy and his live. The resident of Phase.ctv For 1 hour, she made us fly with every sound, with every mix and, above all, with every change… That Techno, besides being danceable, was inspiring and, above all, familiar. You could feel the work of a whole year for this precious moment that, according to Judy, has been one of the best experiences of her life as an artist.

Friday, September 8th

The second day could not be held due to storms. It is true that the music started, but shortly after they had to stop. The vast majority of the public waited for a statement from the organization on social networks about what was happening and what, finally, was going to happen. Some attendees were waiting for the arrival of Adriana Lopez and DVS1, which never got to perform due to the storm. Friday, September 8th was a rather quiet and rainy day. But what is clear is that it is not how you start, but how you finish.

Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September

Saturday, September 9th arrived and the desire for music and dancing was noticeable from early in the morning. 24 hours of excitement awaited us. pure music, although we had been in silence for too many hours. A bar in the village, like a farmhouse, which was just a few meters from the festival, gave us shelter and gave us some sirs speakers for the occasion. We connected some CDJs and started playing Techno until further notice. After so many hours in silence, a simple speaker was the reason why about 100 people couldn't stop smiling and bonding, all this while it was raining non-stop. Until there was a moment when the sun showed itself.

After a few hours of warming up, it was time to get back on track. WHAT A BLESSED MOMENT! The performances of Tasha B2B The Lady Machine and Freddy K They were most fascinating for their technique with vinyl and variety of songs with body and elegance.

We must also mention Emulator for the energy transmitted from the cabin, as it returned the river to its course.

But, above all, the icing on the cake was put by Trolley Route (aka Oscar Mulero). His session could be described as sentimental and introspective, while transmitting strength and forcefulness. Those present connected with his set… Each individual was himself entangled with those beats and atmospheres. To all that quality and sonic joy we must add that wonderful lighting ambiance that embraced and touched the surrounding trees, the smoke in the air, a somewhat grey sky and a very light rain that refreshed the place.

Without a doubt, all the possible factors were in place to make it a magical set, one of meditation and inner observation. We had the opportunity to chat for a few minutes with Muleteer and he told us that techno and the hammering that it entails is great, but that sometimes as an artist you also crave more elegant and slower sounds.

To conclude, we would like to mention other points and services that the festival offered. You found food trucks where you could have a snack between dances. They offered burgers and pad thai with a vegan option.

As for accommodation, you could choose between camping, glamping, caravan site or an AirbnbThe campsite was divided into two areas, each area with plots where the groups of visitors would settle. With the rains, it was expected that staying there would not be the most comfortable, but even with the storms and being surrounded by trees, the stay was pleasant. You had hot water showers at your disposal (only until 8 pm, otherwise you had the lake showers with cold water 24 hours a day), fountains with drinking water to refill your bottles and a chill area with power outlets.

As for the glamping, it was very well equipped, with tents for 1 to 5 people. There were single beds with a pillow, duvet and sheets, which were on a reusable and recyclable bed base, a bedside table with a lamp, a plug, clothes racks, a rug, an electric fridge and padlocks with a code to close the tent. There was also the option of hot showers, but also until 8 pm. Upon arriving at the festival, both the camping and glamping attendees were given tickets to access the showers at a private campsite. It was a great idea to stay at the glamping site. An Airbnb would have been great too, the nearest houses were 10 minutes away by car.

Our experience in Basilar Festival 2023 It was magnificent. We would like to thank and give thanks to the entire organization for the work carried out, the proactivity and resolution of unforeseen events and, above all, to Rui and Francisco for the attention received and for being so attentive. We will return next year, as we are more than excited to find out what awaits us at the next edition of Basilar Festival.
