Prophecy 07 — engineering club precision on vinyl
Hurtado and Elias The Prophet deliver a release where every detail responds to the logic of the DJ booth
A connection that predates sound
The new release on Prophecy Records, Split Grooves EP (Prophecy 07), brings together Hurtado and Elias The Prophet on a techno vinyl split born from an artistic relationship established in 2019 in Berlin, shortly after the label’s inception.

Since then, Hurtado has remained a constant reference within Elias’ radar as one of his favourite producers in the underground circuit. This release does not emerge as a one-off collaboration, but as the consolidation of a long-standing aesthetic and personal affinity.
A split as a form of curation
The EP is built on a clear structure: a vinyl split with two tracks and one intro per artist.
Hurtado sent a broad selection of material, from which the cuts that best aligned with the label’s universe were chosen. From there, Elias built his side of the record through a logic of internal balance: not as a direct response, but as a complement.
The result does not aim to merge identities, but to make them coexist. Two distinct approaches to techno sharing the same physical object.
Two perspectives on contemporary techno
En Split Grooves EP two complementary approaches to club techno coexist from different angles.
Hurtado develops a language of Birmingham old school–influenced tools, where rawness, directness and functionality build tension without ornamentation. His two tracks are accompanied by a noise-driven intro, more abstract in character.

Elias The Prophet articulates the universe of Prophecy Records through a balance between melodic and driving elements, with a more narrative sensibility that contrasts with the immediacy of the tools.
The result is a record that does not seek homogeneity, but controlled contrast.
Form, process and precision
Beyond the music itself, the value of the release lies in its physical construction and attention to detail.
From mastering by Carlos Koschitzky to the lacquer cut at Schnittstelle Mastering, every stage reinforces the intention to translate sound faithfully onto vinyl.

Even seemingly minor decisions—such as placing the intros at the end of each side—follow a real-world DJ logic, optimising navigation in a club context.
Choose Your Fighter: memory and dancefloor
Within the record, “Choose Your Fighter” by Hurtado stands out, a track built from samples of a classic 1990s arcade game.
Beyond its functional role, it introduces a layer of cultural memory into the EP, connecting techno energy with a generational reference that adds emotional depth to the release as a whole.
A record activated in context
Split Grooves EP works as a unified whole, but also as a set of individual pieces that fully reveal their purpose in context.
The intention is not to impose a narrative, but to activate moments on the dancefloor. In Elias’ words, the first listen translates into an immediate, instinctive reaction where analysis disappears and only impact remains: “God, this sounds insane!”
