We delve into Aitor's life as an artist. Tuber, originally from San Sebastian, talks about his beginnings on the scene, his career and his future projects.
What style of music characterizes you?
Techno in general terms, if I had to put a more specific label on it, I would say that international Hypnotic, Deep techno or mental techno. I like to call it mentaleo. If it's an afternoon gig or in a brighter environment, I've usually played dub techno, but it's been a while since I've played bright environments.
What labels have been an inspiration to you?
Without a doubt, in terms of sound, Polegroup is the label that, at first, has left the biggest mark on me. Specifically, Oscar's sound, although the label has a very specific sound. However, I think that, at present, Polegorup is evolving towards something that no longer attracts my attention as much. On the other hand, Semantica and Northern Electronics seem to me to be examples to follow in terms of a well-developed and managed label.
Besides being a DJ, you are also a producer. How would you define your productions? What elements do they consist of?
I do produce, but I'm not a very prolific producer. I have a job outside the music world and it limits my time a lot. Having published a total of 7 tracks so far, I can't say that I have a specific sound or that I show my essence as such, although I do use it when producing. ambient.
So far, what I've released has been focused on the dance floor, although I'm always looking for something more. I'm not looking to produce bangers, I'm looking more for the journey on the dance floor. When producing a song, I try to create something that serves as a thread for a complex story, that can fit within other complex threads. And the final check is to ask myself the following:

As for the elements that make up my tracks, I would say that there is always some bleep, either in the background or as the main sound.
Your journey through the electronic music scene has led you to found your own label, “Inguma Records”. What motivated you to create it? What styles does it cover?
The idea of founding the label Inguma Records It came about after publishing my first track on Sub_tl. After trying a lot, I realized how difficult it was to reach the ears of the people who work on the labels I liked the most. So, with the goal of having control over how and when I published my music, I decided to create my own label. I also found it very interesting to be able to shape a musical catalogue, in all aspects: global perception, artistic diversity, visual image, etc.
As for the musical style, just like with my music, I think there is still enough room to talk about the sound that defines the label. Although I would like to think that it is becoming clearer. There are people who do find the label's own sound, but for now I am not going to get involved. I try to apply the same premise as for my productions and I am opening my mind a little more in terms of diversity.

This can range from more nostalgic or deep tracks like those on NGM003 to more current tracks like those on NGM012, through to dub or sci-fi.
Have you had the opportunity to release music on vinyl? Which of your productions are, in your opinion, the most cutting-edge?
I have participated in 2 Various Artists on vinyl. Both on my own label.
As for my best productions, I couldn't say, it took me quite a while to start using my own music in clubs. Although, when making the decision of whether or not to publish a track, I always ask myself if I would use this track in a club or not, in the end it always takes me a while, I don't know the reason. Maybe it's a lack of self-esteem. Recently I've been receiving comments from DJs and artists that I admire that have made me start playing my own tracks more. I would highlight “Second Choice” for the feedback in general, although I'm also starting to really like “Amesten” after having had a nice chat about the subject with Wata Igarashi.
Of all the collaborations carried out, which ones would you highlight?
As for collaborations, a Split-EP on my own label with A4. He is a friend of mine and living close to each other helps to maintain a certain connection. On the other hand, this year my first real collaboration will be released: 2 tracks produced together with R-010. Also, a Various Artists release on my label with Svreca remixing me.
Do you have a residency in any clubs? In which clubs have you had the opportunity to delight clubbers with your sound art?
I have a kind of “residency” at Dabadaba. I am part of the Madrid collective Phase.ctv. I have played at Gare, Dabadaba, JimmyJazz, Specka, Studio76 and many lesser-known venues. I have participated in two editions of the Dantz Festival.

At Basspirit Magazine we are quite curious and we love to know about the origin of everything. What is the origin of your curiosity and love for electronics?
When I was 16, I started working as a PR at Itzela and Txitxarro, two of the biggest clubs in the north of Spain. They were clubs where Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke and Richie Hawtin could all play in the same night. That's where my interest started. I kept it up afterwards. However, the turning point was my Erasmus in Berlin. Going to clubs like Berghain, Griessmuehle or Tresor every weekend changed your brain. That's when I clicked. When I came back, I made my passion for music public and started doing it all.
Following the line of our curiosity, here's another question worth answering. Could you tell us what other musical genres (outside electronic) you enjoy?
I was asked this in another interview and they laughed at me for 10 minutes straight. Apart from electronic music, I listen to a lot of “gitaneo” or modern flamenco. Music by Omar Montes, Maka, Galván Real, Cano, Daviles de Novelda, etc. This week I'm listening to: “Niña” by José Rey, but only until Moncho Chavea comes on, then it gets messed up and I put it on again.
To conclude this brief tour of Tuber's thoughts, work and projections, could you tell us some information about your upcoming plans in terms of production and performances?
As for production, I'm preparing an album, which I don't know if it will be released this year or next (or never). As for performances, I'm trying to organize a Showcases tour. Inguma in different European countries.
